Nicolai Friedrich was honoured with the coveted SARMOTI Award in Las Vegas. This prize worth $5,000 is awarded by the world-famous magic duo Siegfried & Roy. Nicolai Friedrich received the award – intended to honour originality and innovation in particular – along with the group ‘The Flicking Fingers’, which enjoys the highest international reputation in professional circles.
David Copperfield buys trick from Nicolai Friedrich
Nicolai Friedrich sold the exclusive US TV rights to his trick, Mona Lisa’s Smile, to the world-famous magician David Copperfield, who was so impressed by the trick using a puzzle of the world’s most famous painting that he bought the rights to perform it from Nicolai Friedrich, the first and only German magician to do so. However, Nicolai Friedrich can still perform the trick live and on TV (outside the United States).
Nicolai Friedrich wins the World Championships of Magic
Best performance in the ultimate discipline of mental magic: Nicolai Friedrich won the World Championship of Magic in Beijing in the mental magic category, which is held in very high regard among experts. More than 2,500 magicians from 66 countries attended the World Championships this year. Of these, 100 pre-qualified magicians took part in the competition. Nicolai Friedrich managed to surpass his win at the World Championships in Lisbon in 2000, achieving the highest score in the mentalist competition. His innovative and original performance astounded and impressed the jury and professional audience, extending his popularity to Asia.
